CROP CIRCLES OF 1990


Baltic Farm, Bishop Cannings, Wiltshire.

A single circle apppeared in a remote location behind Morgan's Hill. It was 23.5 metres in Dia. The crop looked like it had been just brushed over due to the immaturity of the young wheat. The formation was located quite near to several Tumuli's and bronze age earthworks. This was the first circle to appeared in the Avebury are in 1990. Formed 3rd May.


Bishop Cannings, Nr Devizes, Wiltshire.

An enormous ringed circle appeared on top of the Ridgeway. The circle was over 200 ft in diameter with three outer rings. A fourth ring was added a number of weeks later. Also thirty six grapeshot circles were spotted over the field and within the circle itself.Formed Early May.


Punchbowl, Cheesefoot Head, Nr Winchester, Hampshire.

A single ringed circle placed in the Punchbowl, 120 ft in diameter with a 10 ft outer ring. The crop was wheat. Formed 18th May.


Chilcomb Farm, Cheesefoot Head, Nr Winchester, Hampshire.

First pictogram to appeared in 1990 consisted of a large circle with a connected central avenue. Both sides of the avenue contained two sets of rectanglar boxes, it was the first time this kind of design had appeared. The central avenue was reduced in size and stopped before the top circle, which was smaller in size then the other. Formed 22nd May.


Longwood Estate (1), Cheesefoot Head, Nr Winchester, Hampshire.

A striking ringed circle formed with three concentric rings and two isolated grapeshot. Formed 29th May.


Morgans Hill, Nr Devizes, Wiltshire.

This quintuplet design formed with four outer satellites and four annular rings. One of the rings was connecting all four outer circles. The night this formation formed the farmer's dogs were barking relentlessly and would not settle on command which was completely out of character. Formed 28/29th May. Hazeley Farm Fields (The Gallops), Cheesefoot Head, Nr Winchester, Hampshire. Formed 2nd June.

The second pictogram to form in this area was discovered near Cheesefoot Head. It was a smaller dumb-bell pictogram with four box like features touching the circle, which was ringed. The ring was disfigured due to the tramline. Formed 2nd June. Go to link to see more info and picture.


Exton, Nr Bishop Waltham, East Hampshire.

This striking Quintuplet design was set in an idyllic location just outside of Exton. It had a clockwise swirled in the central circle (20 metres in diameter) and 6 metre diameter satellites. Formed Early June.


Longwood Estate (2), Cheesefoot Head, Nr Winchester, Hampshire. Formed 6th June.

A three ringed circle with two inner rings broken placed near to the above formation. Formed 6th June.


Bickington, Newton Abbot, South Devon.

A group of circles. Formed 10th June.


Yeo Farm, Nr Dartmoor Halfway Inn, Nr Newton Abbot, South Devon.

A group of four Circles. Diameters 22 feet,8 feet and 13 feet. Formed June.


Westbury, Nr Warminster, Wiltshire.

Three satellitte quintuplets formed just outside the town of Westbury, renowned for circles in the 1980s. The satellites were arranged in a triangle configuration around a larger central circle. A keen crop Watcher had a missing time experience in connection with the crop circle. Formed June.


Telegraph Hill, Cheesefoot Head, Nr Winchester, Hampshire.

The third pictogram to appear in this area. The Boxes had vanished and were displayed in three concentric semi circles placed around the head of the circle. The rest of the formation contained a normal dumb-bell design. It was situated on a steep slope called Telgraph Hill. It was the same field as the first pictogam in May. Formed 16th June. Lichfield (A34 road), Nr Newbury, Hampshire.

This dumb-bell had two sets of boxes and two concentric halos at the head of the circle. It was placed on the tramlines in Barley. The lower circle was 11 metres in diameter with a central pathway of 18 metres long and 1.8 metres in width. The upper circle was 7 metres in diameter. The outer halo or semi ring had a central thin line of standing crop all the way around it's length. Formed 23rd June.


Morestead, Nr Winchester, Hampshire.

Another dumb-bell design formed with an outer halo and boxes on either side of a pathway. It was placed between two tramlines in young wheat. The usual feature on the head of the circle was that the flow of the crop was offset from the circumference of the circle at its starting position. A 1/4 a mile down the A3 road, another single circle appeared. Go to link to see more info and picture.


Longwood Estate, Cheesefoot Head, Nr Winchester, Hampshire.

This 50 metre dumb-bell pictogram with boxes and rings was visible from the nearby road towards Petersfield. Formed late June. Go to link to see more info and picture.


Allington Down, East Kennet, Nr Avebury, Wiltshire. Formed 26th June.

Lower Peover, Northwich, Cheshire.

One mile from M6. A large circle 30 metres in Diameter. Reported 2nd July.


Alton Barnes, Nr Avebury,Wiltshire. Formed 12th July.

Crawley Down, North of Salisbury, Wiltshire.

A large triple dumbell design with four boxes positioned both sides of the connecting pathway. A large central circle contained an inner ring with a break were the connecting pathway passed through into the inner main circle. Formed 13th July.


Stanton St Bernard.

A claw like appendage to a single circle with accompanying grapeshot. Formed very near to the large pictogram below Milk Hill. Formed Mid July.


Farley Mount, Nr Winchester, Hampshire.

A large outer ring with an inner circle was positioned next to an ancient Bronze Age barrow. The Monument itself is centred in a circular grass patch. Amport, Nr Andover, Hampshire.

"The winged Circle" contained a 15 ft circle with two protruding arms each side. Formed Mid-July.


Amersham, The Chilterns, Buckinghamshire.

A six circle complex pictogram with odd shape spurs and avenues connected to the main design. It was 60 metres in length. All the circles were flowing in a anti-clockwise direction. Formed Mid_July.


Little Missenden, Buckinghamshire.

A 11 metre diameter ring formed in Linseed, a rare crop for the phenomenon. Formed mid-July.


Halton. Nr Wendover, Buckinghamshire.

Six spur single circle, each one radiating in various directions. Formed Mid July.


Burton Hastings, Nr Coventry, Warwickshire.

A single circle 30 feet in dia. It was said it was impressive from the witnesses who visited the circle. It was find by two farmers of the same land. Formed July.


Stanton St Bernard, Nr Devizes, Wiltshire. Formed 12th July.

Tibbenham, Nr Wicklewood, East Anglia.

A single ring was formed between a set of tramlines, which caused quite a sensation on the local TV and with the press. Formed Late July.


West Beckham, Nr Sherringham, East Anglia.

It comprised of a ring with a small central circle and two satellites which formed a straight line with the main central ring. Formed late July.


Preston, Nr Stratford, Warwickshire.

Two circles 40 feet and the other 10 feet were located near the A34. Another circle appeared at Meon Hill near Quinton. Formed 23rd July.


Bratton Castle, Nr Westbury, Wiltshire. Formed 25th July.

Great Dunmow, Nr Chelmsford, Essex.

Two pattern in a field near the farm of Great Dunmow, the first one was a 10 metre dia circle, with two smaller circles placed each side with a small pathway connected to the main circle. The other was located 5 metres and was similar in size. Placed around it was a 375 metres outer ring emanating from the central circle was a pathway cutting through the outer ring and splaying out into a right angle bar with two directional lays. Formed 26th July.


Beckhampton, Nr Avebury, Wiltshire. Formed 26th July.

Clanfield, Nr Petersfield, Hampshire.

A single circle near the A3(M) road. Reported 27th July.


Buckworthy, Devonshire.

A seven circle complex pictogram with central pathway connecting 5 circles with two additional circles placed each side of the rear section circle. Two boxes were added between the large axis circle and the end section. Formed late July.


Peppebox Hill, Nr Salisbury, Wiltshire.

Three circle pictogram with connecting ring placed inside the ring were two rectangle troughs each side of the central pathway. A smaller formation was positioned in the same field four days after the first one, this time with only two circles positioned close together with a pathway and two arcs connecting them. Formed late July.


Manor Farm (Nr the Aerodrom), Sibson, Nr Wansford, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.

A large circle with a central circle. The larger circle was connected to a ring on its outer edge and placed within the ring. Reported 27 July. The same pattern appeared in 1995 at Roundway Hill. See 1995 reports.


Etchilhampton, Nr Devizes, Wiltshire.

A windmill type pictogram located below Etchilhampton Hill Bronze age hillfort with an outer ring with five spokes. It was penetrating into the standing crop between the ring and the central circle. Also a connecting pathway was attached to a single ring creating an overall dumb-bell type design. Formed the end of July.


Wortham, Nr Diss, Suffolk.

Two circles of 18 feet were found in a remote part of a farmers land. The farmer was convinced they were formed by the weather because of the frequent whirlwinds in the area. Formed July 30th.


Aberystwyth, West Wales.

One of a few circles which appeared in wales happened near the town of Aberystwyth. It was 18 feet in diameter on a 180 acre barley crop. Formed August.


Whetstone, Nr Blaby, Leicestershire.

A single circle five circle feet in diameter. Formed August.


Garth Farm, Hambleton Village (A63), North Yorkshire.

A single circle flowing anti-clockwise. 66 feet in diameter. No evidence of broken stems. Reported 1st August.


Cleave, Nr Newton St Petrock, North Devon.

A pictogram made of two rings 40 feet to 5 feet on a very remote field, one mile from road. Reported 2nd August.


Lowton, Nr Leigh, Lancashire.

A single circle. Reported 2nd August.


Hopton, Nr Gorleston, East Anglia.

Ten satellites set around a large inner circle. UFU seen night before. (red glow and two red lights over Hopton. Reported 2nd August.


Fritzroy Farm, Bratton, Nr Westbury, Wiltshire.

A single 63 feet circle. Reported 3rd August.


Crickmore Farm, White Horse Common, Nr Swafield, North Norfolk.

A single circle in Barley 50 feet in diameter and a small circle 3 feet in diameter. There was a UFO encounter associated with the larger circle only hours earlier its appearance. Reported 3rd August.


Wilderness Farm, Stowbridge, Cambridgeshire.

Two single circles side by side. One with a narrow outer ring. Approx 20 feet in dia. Reported 3rd August.


Milton St Farm, Nr Long Man of Wilmington, Dorset.

A large circle with connecting bar and a smaller isolated circle with a separated bar at 90 degrees to the larger circle. Reported 3rd August.


Hazeley Farm Fields (The Gallops), Cheesefoot Head, Nr Winchester, Hampshire. Formed 3rd August

This formation turned out to be the grand finale of the season, comprising of arcs and two troughs inset into a central ring placed between circles, Similar in design to the Barn Field pictogram, but slightly more complex in interpretation. Formed August.


Sedgehill, Tyne and Wear, Nr Newcastle.

A 39 foot formation appeared just outside of Sedgehill. It contained an 8.2 by 6.25 metres triangle with a straight pathway leading out from its apex. The pathway formed a perfect pentangle offset from its straight section. Formed August.


Buckingham Barn, Shoreham, Nr Mill Hill (Bronze Age Fort), Kent.

A set of circles in alignment with Mill hill. Reported 5th August.


St Ippolyts, Nr Stevenage, Hertfordshire.

A Single circle beneath local the hill, 20 feet in dia with central standing crop forming a ring design. Formed 5th August.


Stillington (on the B1363), Nr York. Yorkshire.

A single circle 25 yards in circumference with two yards of the wheat standing up. Reported 7th August. Another Ring was reported in Brandsby near Stillington a week before.


Westbury, Wiltshire. Formed 7th August.

Lodge Farm, Chorley, Nr Lichfield, Hampshire.

A large circle with four arms protruding in each direction with a small grapeshot circle placed next to it. One of the arms spanned out into a fishtail. Reported 9th August.


Home Farm, Nr Bladon, Oxfordshire.

Two 30 feet dia circles 20 yards apart. Reported 9th August.


Gatehead (A69), Tyneside.

A small single circle reported 9th August.


Windsor, Nr Slough, Berkshire.

A large single 80 feet in dia located on the Windsor to Slough relief road on land owned by Eton College. Formed 9th August.


Southfield Farm, Wyton.

A single 20 ft circle formed near the hill. The lay was in an anti-clockwise direction. Reported 11th August.


Barn Field, Cheesefoot Head, Nr Winchester, Hampshire.

The last double pictogram to appear in 1990 formed 11th August. It contained two circles connected by a central pathway, placed in the middle of a ring were two troughs situated inside each side of the connecting pathway. The usual feature on this formation were two set of horns placed each end connected to the main circles. Formed 11th August.


Manor Farm, Berwick St John, Wiltshire. (Nr Talbot Inn).

A set of three circles with usual UFO report the night before. Reported 16th August.


Callington, East Cornwall.

A 40 ft circle. Clockwise direction lay. Reported 16th August.


Astley, Nr Leigh, Lancashire.

A celtic cross formation next to the canal adjacent to the former Astley Pit. Reported 14th August.


Corneys Farm, Home Fen, Ramsey, Nr Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.

A single circle 15 ft in diameter. Perfectly formed. The farmer mentioned that the soil was very fine, "It would have been impossible for anyone to have got to the circle without leaving footprints." Reported 21st August.


Chorley, Hampshire.

A Single circle. Reported 23rd August.


Beacon Hill, Hampshire.

A group of circles. Reported 30th August.
